Skillz4Me Family Center for Disabilities Lego Club

What is Social Skills LEGO Club?

Social Skills LEGO Club is a social development program for children of all abilities that helps develop communication and social skills. Children learn turn-taking, sharing, listening, conversation, teamwork, shared attention, problem-solving and fine motor skills.

Benefits of LEGO?

Lego has been used as therapy since the early 2000’s and there are centers utilising lego as therapy in the UK and USA. When children play with LEGO they are more likely to interact with each other through collaborative play. The shared focus on building helps children improve their social skills while having fun.

What does a session involve?

Tasks at Skillz4me LEGO club are specifically catered for each child. There will be individual challenges, group builds and also free play. The sessions are focused on improving participation, social interaction and fun.

When does it commence?

The group will commence at the beginning of each school Term and run weekly on Thursdays from 4:00-5:00pm in the Skillz4me Therapy Room (The Loft) at the CBC indoor centre.
