Social Skills Lego Club is a social development program for children of all abilities that helps develop communication and social skills. Children learn turn-taking, sharing, listening, conversation, teamwork, shared attention, problem-solving and fine motor skills.
Lego has been used as therapy since the early 2000’s and there are centers utilising lego as therapy in the UK and USA. When children play with LEGO they are more likely to interact with each other through collaborative play. The shared focus on building helps children improve their social skills while having fun.
Tasks at Skillz4me LEGO club are specifically catered for each child. There will be individual challenges, group builds and also free play. The sessions are focused on improving participation, social interaction and fun.
The next group will commence in Term 1 2021 and run weekly on Thursdays from 4:00-5:00pm in the Skillz4me Therapy Room (The Loft) at the CBC indoor centre.
The cost for the 9 sessions is $350 per term. The cost of this group can be claimed using plan or self-managed NDIS funding. You are able to use your Creative Kids Voucher for this program.
